Kompany is one of the most skilled coaches in the world

If you were to ask Bayern Munich fans today about their team’s current state, their response would be that Bayern Munich before Kompany was one thing, and after Kompany, it’s something else entirely!

If Kompany had had flexible and competent management, Bayern Munich would have been the strongest team in Europe at the time. Kompany is one of the best coaches at using his fullbacks.

He knows his fullbacks aren’t the best on the ball, but they’re excellent in movement, just like Lahmar.

So he started positioning them deep as inside fullbacks, with Kimmich dropping in with the defenders, and we opened up the pitch with the wingers.

The opposing winger is forced to go inside with Bayern’s fullback, opening a diagonal passing lane from the defender to the winger.
