Chelsea Project is working hard.
Chelsea is silently working on a huge project, and no one is even noticing it!
I want you to imagine that there is no Chelsea player over 30 years old, except for Sterling, on a roster of over 40 players. That’s the lowest average age you’ll ever see!
The amazing thing is that Chelsea has made five very special signings this transfer window, including players who play in more than one position, all under 25! 👇
Defender “Hato” is 19 years old. He plays left back and left center back, and excels from the line and in half-spaces!
Left winger “Gittens” is only 20 years old!
Right winger “Estevao” is only 18!
Forward “Delap” is 22 years old!
Forward “João Pedro” is 23 years old. He plays as a striker, underneath the striker, and can also play as a winger!
Imagine that Chelsea spent €228 million on these deals, but instead sold players like João Félix and Madueke for €106 million. That’s a net spend of €122 million on five outstanding players, and they’re still about to complete the deal for Xavi Simons, a versatile player who’s only 22 years old!
Chelsea’s project is betting on young talent with long-term contracts. The advantage of this young Chelsea generation is that their confidence has increased after defeating a giant like Paris Saint-Germain and winning the Club World Cup and a European title. The feeling of being a champion makes you dream more with a coach like Maresca coming to start his own dreams with you, as he’s right there with you on the exact same track!
Chelsea’s project is coming, and it’s coming, and it’s strong

Before these deals, Chelsea brought in these players:
Lavia two years ago, he was 19
Enzo two years ago, he was 22
Caicedo two years ago, he was 21
Palmer two years ago, he was 21
Renato Veiga one year ago, he was 21
I think the strategy is very clear.
Enzo Caicedo and Palmer have proven themselves.
Lavia is on the right track.
It’s not yet known whether Veiga will continue or not.
But we’re still waiting.
Chelsea currently has approximately 30 players under the age of 25.
We’re talking about a team that’s looking to reap the rewards in the near future.
This is a long-term project.
It doesn’t necessarily mean that the peak moment will appear this season.
It’s a project that takes time.
Because, as you can see, all the players are young,
but they all dream together.
But the advantage, I told you, is that I hold a title in my hands. I’ve become a champion. My confidence is growing. I’m more eager for what’s to come, and Mariska knows how to get them there with every step.
In the second part of this article, I will try to explain how the direction Chelsea has taken gives them great tactical diversity on the field. This was evident last season at certain times.
A simple example: Cucurella
Played as a third center-back in matches
Played as an additional pivot in the final third in the half-spaces, entering the box and being an element that finished off the attack. It became clear that he directed the ball very well with his head.
Same thing with Reece James
Right-back
Additional pivot with a pivot in the circle
Additional pivot in the final third in the right half-space.
The characteristics that provide this diversity allow Maresca to rotate within the team without disrupting its tactical system. There are more than one player playing multiple roles.
Take this, for example. He will replace Cucurella as a full-back in matches
He will replace Colwill as a left center-back in matches
And he will play Cucurella’s role in the third. The last one because he can make very good curved crosses and he is considered a very good shooter.

At one point only
Chelsea looks set to continue with Sanchez in goal
and with right-backs like Chalobah, Badiashile, and Disasi
These two positions may have been Chelsea’s biggest weakness last season.
I don’t know if they’ll continue like this or not.
But let’s focus on these two points because I think Chelsea should have found solutions in them this season.
