Qarabag club made a comeback

I can’t think of a stranger football scenario this year!

Yesterday, Benfica were playing their first Champions League match against a team called Qarabag.

They were leading by two goals and expected to win.

Suddenly, Qarabag staged a fantastic comeback and eventually defeated Benfica 3-2, achieving a miracle and becoming the first Azerbaijani team to win a Champions League group stage match!

If you thought that scenario was over, you still haven’t seen anything. This Azerbaijan miracle led us to another miracle:

the dismissal of Benfica coach Bruno Lage and Benfica’s official agreement with Jose Mourinho to become the team’s coach. So, what’s so strange about this?

It’s strange that Benfica itself eliminated Mourinho from the qualifiers and was the reason he didn’t play in the group stage with Fenerbahçe.

He was subsequently dismissed because of this. Imagine the scenario!

After 25 years, Mourinho will return to coach Benfica, the second club he has coached in his career, and will play in

the Champions League in a scenario beyond his dreams.
