The handsome Brazilian player in front of you had one of the best days of his life yesterday!

His name is Igor Jesus, and he is a striker for Nottingham Forest. Six years ago, he was told he wasn’t talented enough.

And indeed, his Brazilian team was unable to sell him to Europe, so he ended up going to the UAE and playing for Al-Ahli Youth Club for four whole years!

But do you know what’s so great about Igor’s story?

Igor Jesus refused to play for the UAE national team and decided to leave behind the money and comfort of the UAE.

He returned to Brazil and said, “I will prove myself and force the Brazilian national team to call me up!”

It’s really impressive that Igor returned to Brazil a year ago, joined Botafogo, shone remarkably, won the league and the Copa Libertadores with them,

was called up to the Brazilian national team, and even scored with them in the World Cup qualifiers!

To continue Igor’s story of struggle, he joined Nottingham Forest this year and plays in the Premier League.

Yesterday, he scored two goals in the Europa League against Real Betis

and became the first player to score for Nottingham in a European competition after a 29-year absence!

The story of Brazilian Igor Jesus, player for Nottingham Forest, is beautiful and inspiring.

Let’s go back in time seven years. Jesus, aged 17, was playing for Brazilian club Coritiba, the club where he grew up and started his career.

The surprise came when his club decided to let him go, saying that he “didn’t know how to play” and was far below the club’s requirements.

So what happened?

Egor Jesus headed to the United Arab Emirates to join Shabab Al Ahli Dubai.

He stayed there for four years, playing 84 games and scoring 40 goals.

Despite the temptation to represent the UAE national team, Egor refused.

He was very attached to his country and felt that he deserved a change of scenery.

He returned to Brazil through Botafogo, where he scored 19 goals in 59 games.

Nottingham Forest’s management saw the player as an investment, as he was only 23 years old

and signed him for only €19 million.

In Nottingham Forest’s first European match in more than 30 years, he scored two goals against Real Betis!
