A fitting end for a legend of Messi’s stature
Lionel Messi’s Final World Cup Dance!
Lionel Scaloni, coach of the Argentine national team, announced today the final roster for the World Cup, and the list certainly includes Messi, who will become the player with the most World Cup appearances in history—six—tied with Ronaldo!
I honestly don’t know why so many people aren’t picking Argentina to win the World Cup, even though the team has added impressive technical talent to its World Cup roster, such as Como star Nicolás Baz and Valentín Barco, who recently transferred to Chelsea!
I mean, just imagine those two additions alongside the original midfielders like Enzo Fernández, Mac Allister, and Palacios. The only strange thing is that Scaloni didn’t call up Bournemouth defender Sinisi after the great season he had!

Messi is the player with the most goal contributions in World Cup history, with 21 goals
Messi has a chance to become the all-time World Cup top scorer because he has scored 12 goals; he needs 4 more to tie Klose and become the player with the most goals in World Cup history.
The idea is also that the team’s setup is very well-suited to Messi’s current condition—technically, physically, and mentally.
This means Argentina will likely play a 4-4-2 with two central midfielders, relying on understanding, harmony, and the “rondo” and “combination play” styles (something similar to Atlético Madrid but with a higher tempo and greater boldness).
The goalkeeper is, of course, Emiliano.
The center-backs are Romero on the right and Lisandro on the left, or Otamendi if he’s not ready. The fullbacks are Molina and Taliafico or Barco.
As for the midfield, the duo will be Mac Allister and Enzo Fernández, with the wing midfielders Giuliano Simeone on the right and Nicolás González on the left. At times, Almada will play there even though he’s not the best fit, and Barco might also step into that role in certain situations
The duo up front, of course, is Messi and Alvarez.
The beauty here is that this lineup helps Messi in his current weakest area, which is off the ball. Alvarez has Giuliano Simeone right beside him, who is a pressing machine. Overall, Argentina is seen as the top contender after Spain, especially if Yamal is in form.
