Samuel Umtiti is now without a club

Remember Samuel Umtiti?

He was one of the top five defenders in the world in 2018, was one of France’s stars at the 2018 World Cup, and was a revelation with Barcelona.

Now, Umtiti is currently without a club at the age of 31 after Lille refused to extend his contract due to recurring knee injuries.

The player is now seriously considering retirement.

Unfortunately, it’s a sad situation, but when you go back seven years and remember the moment Umtiti first sustained a knee injury with Barcelona,

Doctors advised him to undergo knee surgery to recover, but he refused surgery and decided to rely solely on physical therapy.

As a result, he kept coming back from injury and getting injured again.

Since then, his career collapsed, and he didn’t play for two seasons.
